Sonorus Intruduces STUDI/O-Sync Backplate for
STUDI/O Digital Audio Interface

Friday, September 26, 1997
New York, NY — Sonorus, Inc. has announced the introduction of the STUDI/O-Sync Backplate for use with STUDI/OTM, the company’s 16-channel digital audio interface for Windows 95-based and Macintosh personal computers. The STUDI/O-Sync Backplate provides STUDI/O card users with Word Clock in and out, and ADAT timecode input, as well as MIDI timecode input.

The STUDI/O card allows recording engineers and home studio owners to input/output 16 channels of digital audio in parallel from the PC to a pair of Alesis ADATs using standard fiber-optic cables. The supplied software drivers are compatible with existing Windows audio devices, so STUDI/O works with most Windows-based DAW editing software, including Cakewalk Pro Audio, CoolEdit Pro, Cubase VST 3.5, GoldWave, Samplitude, SAW Plus, Sound Forge, WaveLab, and others.

The STUDI/O card includes two 8-channel Alesis ADAT optical interfaces and an 18-bit stereo analog monitor output. For mastering applications, one of both ADAT interfaces can be software-configured for optical SPDIF input and/or output, including sample rate conversion, for connection to DAT machines or high-performance converters.

With the addition of Word Clock in & out, ADAT timecode input and MIDI timecode input via STUDI/O-Sync, several additional applications are available to STUDI/O card users. With Word Clock in, the

STUDI/O card can be synchronized within a professional digital studio environment to a master clock generator. STUDI/O-Sync can also be utilized as the master clock generator via Word Clock out, sending its high quality clock to the Alesis BRC or other devices. With ADAT timecode input and the supplied tray application, PUNCH I/O, Windows audio application can perform sample accurate playback and recording. Additionally, frame-accurate punch-ins for programs that sync to MIDI timecode are now possible via the MIDI driver.

The STUDI/O-Sync Backplate uses one PC slot or can be dissembled and attached on the computer cases’s DB9 & DB25 slugs. It is Windows and Mac compatible. Suggested retail price for STUDI/O-Sync from Sonorus, Inc. is $150.00.
